Output of a Legal R&D Lab

What could a legal research & development lab produce, that would be valuable to the profession & beyond? This is my sketch of what output the Legal Design Initiative should be working towards.

Legal Design Initiative - output we create

It’s not prioritized here, just a first draft of what I see the promise of an R&D lab can be:

– new JDs (and others) who are primed for more creative work

– academic papers documenting research & findings

– case studies profiling projects and organizations doing ambitious work

– guides detailing and instructing on better ways of doing things

– software tools that bake in good practices and designs, and improve workflows

– user research findings to guide better work

Any thoughts — other things to add to the list of what a lab can be building & fostering?
